OTHER WAYS TO DONATE:

  1. Matching Gifts: Check with your employer to find out if a matching gift program is offered. A matching gift leverages the donor’s gift to a higher level.
  2. Stock, real estate and other gifts
  3. Donate In-Kind Gifts – Contributions of household goods are also needed. Below is a list of items we are unable to accept.
  4. Bequest in a Will
    Outright bequests, as well as certain bequests in trust, are not subject to estate taxes. Bequests can take any of the following forms:
    – Bequest of a dollar amount, particular securities or other property.
    – Residual bequest of all or a portion of an estate after payment of specific amounts to other beneficiaries.
    – Contingent bequest to take effect if beneficiaries die before the testator.

Gift Acceptance Policy

Accepted Gift Types

  • Cash Donations: Checks, credit cards, money orders, electronic transfers.
  • In-Kind Donations: Goods/services like food or professional support.
  • Restricted Gifts: Donations for specific programs/projects that support CCDBR’s mission.

Gifts Requiring Prior Approval

  • Securities: Stocks, bonds, etc. (Executive Director approval).
  • Property: Real estate, vehicles, etc. (Executive Director approval).
  • Bequests/Trusts: Through wills, trusts, or life insurance.
  • Large Equipment: Must be approved by a Department Director.

Unacceptable Gifts

  • Clothing
  • Used hygiene products
  • Used sheets or towels
  • Medical equipment
  • Toys (except for the Community Christmas Program)
  • Any legally problematic or misaligned gifts
  • Furniture

Gift Acceptance Procedures

  • All non-cash or large gifts are reviewed for compliance.
  • Appraisals may be requested for high-value items.
  • Donors receive written acknowledgment for tax purposes.
  • In-kind donation procedures are documented separately.

Donor Restrictions

Accepted if aligned with CCDBR’s mission and operational capacity. The agency may decline gifts with unmanageable restrictions.


Conflict of Interest

No personal benefit to staff, board, or volunteers from donations.


Confidentiality

Donor information is kept private and only shared with consent or when legally required.
