  • On Friday, CCDBR staff delivered 10 generators, 4 pallets loaded with tarps, charcoal, baby goods, and kitchenware to Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana and dropped off other donations from CCSWL at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lake Charles and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Jennings.
  • CCDBR are still stationed at the Wyndham Gardens Hotel in Baton Rouge, helping to meet the needs of evacuees in Baton Rouge.
  • Over the weekend, we manned the desk at GOHSEP EOC for Louisiana VOAD (Voluntary Agencies Active in Disaster), fielding requests for volunteers and goods from the affected area and connecting them with resources.
  • We’re putting plans in place to begin picking up donations from the deaneries beginning Monday, September 14. For more information, churches should call Carol Spruell at 225-376-6897.

  • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge has been assisting evacuees housed in hotels in our area, supplying gas cards for those relocating out of the area and providing them with relief supplies like diapers and hygiene items as needed.
  • We are working with the other Louisiana Catholic Charities agencies to help Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana (CCSWL) to coordinate their response and sharing our resources and knowledge to lessen their burden.
  • We are also involved in coordinating our diocesan-wide relief efforts. Announcements will be forthcoming.
  • Yesterday, David Aguillard, CCDBR Executive Director, delivered gift cards donated by St. George Catholic Church to Sr. Mariam, ED of CCSWL. He also helped sort package supplies for distribution to Lake Charles churches.
