Meet our Foster Grandparent, Ms. Shirley Williams.

Meet our Foster Grandparent, Ms. Shirley Williams. Ms. Williams has been in the Foster Grandparents Program (FGP) for 15 years, and she works at our Discovery Head Start site. Her site supervisor uses one word to describe Ms. Williams and that is “SUCCESS.” Mushaunda Williams says, “Ms. Williams (“Momo” as we call her) is and has always been more than just a Foster Grandparent at our class. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and more importantly dedication to the children and teachers at our school. She shows love and support to all the children and they love her dearly. Momo’s passion for the job is far beyond measure, Catholic Charities is truly blessed to have Momo and Discovery is better than blessed she was placed at our site. To God be the Glory for this awesome woman who is beautiful inside and out.”

When we asked Ms. Williams how she feels about the program she said, “The program gives me an outlet and keeps me motivated. Without Catholic Charities Foster Grandparent program I would be at home bored and my health would be declining. “

This is a Win for the School and a Win for the Grandparent!

The Foster Grandparents program at Catholic Charities provides opportunities for social interaction and companionship to those 55 and over. It provides grandparents the opportunity to earn a small stipend while providing children one on one tutoring, teaching them reading skills and guiding them to success.
